Thiel Butner

Thiel (pronounced “teal”) joined Janice Romanosky at Pando Alliance in 2014 and became a Principal in 2016.  Pando, a B Corp, is a leading provider of green certifications and energy consulting services for affordable multifamily projects in the greater DC/Baltimore region.  As the Managing Principal, Thiel focuses on operations and oversees the company’s more than 150 active projects.

She entered the industry as an AmeriCorps*VISTA in Construction Development at Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, where her role involved helping the organization transition to constructing ENERGY STAR Certified Homes for homebuyers who met income qualifications.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ecological Design from Prescott College and a Master of Business Administration from Hood College.  She sits on RESNET’s Technical Standards Development Committee and previously sat on their Board of Directors, lending her multifamily perspective to the organization.

With roots in field experience, her credentials have included PHIUS+ Rater and Multifamily Verifier, LEED for Homes Green Rater, NGBS Green Verifier, HERS Rater, and BPI Building Analyst & Envelope Professional.

Janice Romanosky

In 2010, I founded Pando Alliance as a sole proprietor.  Drawing on 20 years of management experience in the home center industry, I integrated strong client relation skills and sound business sense with my enthusiasm for sustainable building practices.

After 13 exciting and rewarding years as Founding Principal, I announced my retirement from Pando Alliance effective January 1, 2024 to spend more time with my family.  While I know this is the right time to embark on the retirement journey, it is still not easy to part ways with those I have worked with for so long.

Throughout my career, I have had the pleasure of working with many talented and dedicated people across many disciplines.  You’ve all taught me so much about affordable housing and the vulnerable populations our work supports.  I’m both proud and grateful to be associated with the hundreds of projects we have completed together.

Looking ahead, Thiel Butner, as Chief Executive Officer, will continue to lead Pando as she has so capably done in recent years, particularly during my recent extended absence.  I am confident she will lead the Pando team to new and greater heights.  I’ll be cheering from the sidelines!
